Privacy Policy
Overview
This Privacy Policy and Terms of Service govern Scroll The Book of Mormon (the "App"), a free app for reading and engaging with the Book of Mormon, created and maintained by Donovan Strader and Ben Herrera. By creating an account or using the App, you agree to the practices and terms described below.
Information We Collect
- Account information: your email address and password, used to create and secure your account through our authentication provider (Supabase).
- Profile information: a display name and username, and an optional profile picture you choose to upload. Your profile picture is stored at a web address that isn't listed anywhere, but anyone who has that exact address can view it. Don't upload a picture you want kept private.
- User-generated content: verse comments, testimonies, and any other text you choose to post within the App.
- Friend connections: friend requests you send or receive, and your resulting list of friends.
- Messages you send us: if you use Contact us, we store your message along with the category you chose, the reply-to email you gave, your username and account email, and your app platform and language, and we forward it to our own inbox through our email provider, Resend, so we can reply. It is never shown to other users, and it is deleted if you delete your account.
- Donation information: if you choose to donate, payment is processed directly by Stripe. We do not collect or store your card or bank details.
- Sign-in security: when you sign in with a username, we briefly log the username and a scrambled (hashed) version of your network address to stop password guessing. These entries are cleared when you sign in successfully, or after about a day.
On your device only: reading progress, favorites, notes and settings are stored on your device, not on our servers.
We do not collect your precise location, contacts, or browsing activity outside the App.
How We Use and Share Information
We use the information above to operate the App's features: signing you in, displaying your profile to friends, showing comments and testimonies to your mutual friends, and notifying you about friend activity.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use advertising networks or third-party trackers.
We share information only with the service providers who help us run the App, and they only process data to provide their service to us:

| Google Fonts | Supplies the website's typeface; your browser requests it from Google, which sees your IP address |
We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety of users or the public.
User Content, Community Features & Moderation
Comments and testimonies you post are visible only to your mutual friends within the App — never to the public, and never to friends who haven't been mutually confirmed.
All user-submitted text passes through an automated filter intended to catch profanity and slurs before it's posted.
You can report content or block another user directly within the App. Blocking prevents further contact and visibility between you and that user.
We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these Terms, including harassment, hate speech, or other harmful conduct.
Account Deletion & Data Retention
You can delete your account at any time from within the App. Deleting your account removes your profile, friend connections, comments, and testimonies from our active database. You can also ask us to delete it without the App; see Delete your account.
Testimonies and plan-completion posts stop appearing in your friends' feeds 24 hours after you post them, but they're kept until you delete them or your account.
We retain information only as long as necessary to operate the App, comply with legal obligations, or resolve disputes.
Children's Privacy and Eligibility
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us using the information below so we can remove it.
